Shirley Bhatnagar

Shirley Bhatnagar is based in Dehradun and currently a professor at UPES School of Design. She known for her expressive ceramics. A graduate of the National Institute of Design, she has worked on numerous public and private commissions that blend tradition with bold personal language. Shirley has led the Fired Material Application discipline at the Indian Institute of Crafts and Design and continues to teach at design institutions across India. Her studio practice, Irregular Beauty, explores form, texture, and memory, often reviving traditional crafts in contemporary contexts. With four solo shows and many group exhibitions internationally and nationally. She uses storytelling, humour and historical references in her work.
