Ishan Khosla is a practicing graphic and type designer and founder of The Typecraft Initiative, through which he investigates the role of design in transforming folk and tribal art, such as embroideries, wall paintings, and tattoos, into digital typefaces embedding indigenous knowledge. His research spans craft\u2019s influence on type design, cultural heritage, material culture, and the negotiation of agency with tribal artists. Holding an MFA in Design from the School of Visual Arts, NYC, he explores vernacular culture, ecology, caste politics, and the informal economy in the Global South.
