Crafting a Distinctive Identity: The Core Brand Identity Awarded India’s Best Design Project 2023

There are brands and corporations that, right from inception, have played a fundamental part in building India over several decades and have become the backbone of the Indian economy. The Core is about giving these legacy brands and corporations much-needed importance while covering essential developments in the start-up and tech space in a young and engaging journalistic tonality. The Core provides readers with engaging, informative, and thought-provoking content in the fields of business, finance, and tech.

Balancing Boldness and Credibility

The Core faced the challenge of creating a brand identity that would stand out in the crowded media landscape while maintaining the credibility expected of a journalistic platform. This required seamlessly incorporating the brand’s three pillars—Business, Finance, and Technology—into the logo, ensuring each aspect was represented equally.

Simplifying Logo Design

The design team at Wife tackled this challenge by creating a black-and-white logo that captures The Core’s non-partisan and unbiased approach to journalism, covering the economy’s highs and lows with equal scrutiny. The use of black and white is powerful, as these colours resonate on a subconscious level, embodying the complexity and duality of the news world. Black symbolizes mystery and authority, while white represents optimism, equality, and clarity—key elements in the business world. To pay homage to the earliest forms of communication, the design incorporates dots and dashes reminiscent of Morse code as an integral part of The Core’s logo. Additionally, three coloured dots represent the brand’s three pillars, which together form an upward-facing arrow to symbolize growth and optimism.

Adaptable and Versatile Design

The Core’s logo is designed to be adaptable and versatile, ensuring it remains prominently visible against both dark and light backgrounds. It can also be adjusted into a 1×1 or 1×2 format, depending on the medium, enhancing its utility across various platforms and ensuring the brand’s presence is consistently strong and recognisable.

Since its launch earlier this year, The Core has rapidly become one of the most recognised business news portals in the Indian digital ecosystem. The distinctive and bold brand identity, crafted by Wife, has helped The Core stand out from its competitors while securing its place among established journalistic peers.
