Bridging Tradition with Technology: Shark Brains Awarded India’s Best Design Project 2023

Shark Brains is a holistic project that continues to evolve and innovate in the realm of education and child development. The design team collaborated with child educators and embarked on an extensive research and development journey to bring the brand and its product ideas to fruition. The team continues to collaborate with Shark Brains for the development of new product ideas. It also spearheaded the navigation flow and UI of the brand’s e-commerce website.

Creating a Unified Visual Identity

The project presented several significant challenges. Firstly, the task was to establish a cohesive visual system adaptable across various products and channels. This was a complex endeavour given the diverse nature of the products and the limited budget available during the beta phase. The design team needed to prioritise and develop the top four product ideas that would effectively address market gaps. The greatest challenge, however, was designing a product that was both educational and playful, appealing to both parents and children.

Integrating Fun & Technology In Learning

To tackle these challenges, the team conducted extensive research into child psychology and brain development, which guided several pivotal design decisions. One major innovation was the introduction of Daily Sanskrit Shlokas through printed flashcards as a mode of speech therapy. While the products are screen-free, QR codes cater to tech-savvy users, offering instant access to audio files. The design team crafted a comprehensive visual identity that communicated both the educational and playful aspects of the product across all channels. The marketing strategy was designed to engage both parents and children, highlighting the product’s benefits while emphasising its engaging nature. Consistent brand messaging and seamless user experience were ensured through careful UI/UX design.

Creating Engagement

The project successfully achieved its primary goal of creating impactful, screen-free kits for children, including speech therapy tools through Sanskrit. The visual system and marketing strategy played a crucial role in positioning the brand as a leader in child development, resulting in a significant positive impact on children and their families. In addition to the core products, the team launched a successful Instagram campaign to promote the brand. Eight educational kits were conceptualised and brought to market, including Shloka & Mantra, Daily Shloka, Shanti Mantra, Atharvashirsha, A-Z Indian Locations, Great Indian Personalities, Spanish Self Learning, and Integrated Parenting. These products have been particularly well-received by the elderly community, who value the opportunity to pass on Sanskrit mantras to their grandchildren. This comprehensive approach has successfully established the brand’s presence and impact in the educational market.
