Homegrown Innovation: Havells CXD Is India’s Best In House Design Studio 2022

Over time, several of their projects have evolved into highly successful market products.

Havells CXD (Customer Experience & Design) was set up as an independent department in 2017, as a part of Havells Center For Research & Innovation (CRI). Several of the department’s projects have transitioned into successful products that are doing remarkably well in the market.

Havells CXD is not just a design studio; it is a culture where innovation meets efficiency and future meets reality. It is dedicated to solving real life problems with solutions that redefine the user experience. Havells CXD is a multidisciplinary team of designers, visualisers, cognitive scientists, researchers, industry leaders, and fresh talent who work together to create remarkable products. The team handles design for all product categories and organisation’s brands including Havells, Lloyd, Crabtree, Standard, and Reo.

Project 1 – Stealth Dry Iron
Pioneering Ease of Use, Safety, Performance, & Ergonomics

The Stealth Dry Iron features a sleek design profile that has been designed to enhance the user experience with ease of use, ergonomics, performance and safety.

• The efficient sole plate design houses a specialised fin arrangement that enables superior thermal conduction, reducing the heating time by 30% as compared to others.
• The carefully designed clearance, along with chamfered sole plate, prevents fingers from touching the hot sole plate.
• Tapered Sole Plate
• The sole plate has beveled edges and tapers towards the front, enabling smooth gliding in all directions.
• The back-lean handle is convenient to hold, easy to manoeuvre, and reduces the strain on wrist.
• The narrow tip allows easy access to all the tricky corners of the garment.

Project 2 – Crabtree SmartH Automation Range
Offering a Seamless Connected Experience to Consumers

SmartH is a range of smart modular switches that provides a seamless connected experience to consumers with IOT-enabled features. The range distinguishes itself with several innovative features that include:

• Ease of installation: All the SmartH switches fit into the existing switch & junction boxes by replacing the manual switches. It makes the switches hassle-free to use and enables better adoption.
• Multiple interaction modes: Users can choose to operate the touch modules on the wall or use other modes such as app-based control, voice control, and the free-locate remote control to interact with their appliances.
• Scenario setting: The SmartH range allows users to program several ambient combinations to create moods matching different scenarios and different times of the day.

Project 3 – Silencio Mixer Grinder
Industry’s First Silent Mixer Grinder

Silencio Mixer Grinder is a unique blend of sleek design and enhanced function. While regular mixer grinders produce 90-95 db of noise, which can potentially harm hearing, Silencio has been engineered to reduce operational noise levels by up to 50%.

It brings additional innovative features like double-walled jars that reduce noise levels and a patented lid lock that enhances safety. Silencio features a clean and contemporary look with a capacitative control panel and an easy-to-operate knob.

An environment-friendly and efficient solution that can replace a 2-feet batten.

Nu Bulb+ is an energy-efficient lighting solution that features a high-lumen potency. With a capability to illuminate the same area as a 2-feet batten, it redefines efficiency with reduced material and energy usage.

It sports a clean design with its sleek, simple, and curved appearance that makes it stand out but remain unobtrusive with its compactness.

It also gives users control over their connected smart appliances. The app lays out everything efficiently in an intuitive and user-friendly interface.
