What does your creative process involve?

MS: My favourite medium to work on is poster colour on paper but I mostly opt for digital as it has everything. I also love working with watercolours, pastels, and pencils. I start with scribbles and then I start sketching out my piece before moving into colouring. In many instances, I start painting directly.

How do you manage to juggle a freelance career with a full time job?

MS: It is nice to take up freelancing projects from time to time; it helps me look at new design challenges, and it definitely helps me grow as an artist. If you’re doing freelance work you can take on projects that make you happy – you don’t have to take all the requests you get. The downside to picking up projects is that sometimes it requires you to juggle work, and it can take away that little bit of free time. Sometimes it helps to just relax and observe things around you.

How do you overcome a creative block?

MS: I don’t really have a set pattern. What I like to do when I’m blocked is to just browse through whatever art I can find. It usually inspires me in some way.
